Primavera Sound 2018, two Italian acts in the line up: Cesare Basile and Donato Dozzy

Today Primavera Sound festival unveiled its incredible lineup.

The huge bill featuring the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Björk, The National, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, also sees two Italian acts: Cesare Basile and Donato Dozzy.

The Spanish festival will take place in Barcelona between May 30th and June 2nd.

Cesare Basile

Italy takes care of its damned. Cesare Basile has been riding the storm for thirty years. During all this time, his fragmented poetry has had the time to change direction several times. After his first endeavours in bands such as Candida Lilith, Kim Squad and the successful Quartered Shadows, his idea of rock as an unnerving poisonous animal started to take form on his first solo records in the mid-eighties. In 2003, the Sicilian artist turned the page of the intimate singer-songwriter song from his album Closet Meraviglia… and he never looked back. And that is where he still is at with U fujutu su neschi chi fa? his latest studio album: maintaining that his job as rock song scrap dealer constitutes one of the most beautiful art forms.

Donato Dozzy

If there were TV talent shows for producers or DJs similar to those for chefs, Donato Dozzy would be a brilliant candidate to be a jury member. His encyclopedic knowledge of electronic and/or of club music (disco, funk, Italo, house, techno, dub, ambient, acid… ALL OF IT!) would allow him to teach and evaluate the aspiring candidates with wisdom and know-how. “The professor”, the nickname he earned himself, is endorsed by his days as a resident DJ at Brancaleone Club in Rome and at Panorama Bar in Berlin, shows us that the best sessions need to warm up slowly. He would also remind the candidates that mixing, producing, being part of a band (in his case The Kitchen Tools) or creating, in general, is not a purpose in itself but a journey towards where the music is taking you.
