ARTIST — pop, rock, folk
Hollowblue, originally a solo project by Gianluca Maria Sorace, becomes a band in 2003 when Marco Calderisi aka Killjoy on guitar, Giancarlo Russo on bass and Federico Moi on drums joined him.
On strings, they had the support of several people: Chiara Cavalli, Sarah Crespi and Sarah Mayer on violin and Ellie Young on cello. In the summer of 2009 the keyboardist Enrico Filippi joined the band and in 2012 Davide Malito Lenti took over as the drummer.
Hollowblue have released three albums, each of which has received fantastic reviews and attention from both Italian and international press.
The last two albums have received 4 stars in the prestigious British magazine Uncut and in 2010 the official David Bowie site dedicated an entire page of praise, with particular attention to their version of the song “Letter to Hermione” recorded with Luca Faggella for the tribute Repetition*Bowie.
Their collaborations are always of great interest: the American writer Dan Fante, son of John Fante, the Italian/Finnish Lara Martelli, Anthony Reynolds of the British band Jack.
In 2009 they founded aCupintheGarden Records which, thanks to the support of the distributor Audioglobe, has published not only Hollowblue records but also the work of musicians with similar style and attitude.
Their third album, “Wild Nights, quiet dreams” has been published in autumn 2010 also in Benelux and in the same year their video Wild dogs run (a duet with the UK British singer Sukie Smith aka Madam), directed by Francesco Rotunno and Alessandra Vinotto won at 3D Film Festival in Hollywood as best 3d video. After them, We are the world for Haiti with Michael Jackson, Pink, Santana and many others). Also screened at Sundance and in many other international festivals.
After the leader Gianluca Maria Sorace focused on the solo project, Stella Burns, Hollowblue has been in standby for a while but with a brand new album to be published, they could return soon on stage.
