Italian artists playing ESNS 2021 (supported by Italia Music Export-SIAE)

Forget beers, steamy clubs, rain and snow, forget grabbing a delicious eierbal out of the wall at the corner of the Grote Markt: unfortunately Covid-19 has forced us to stay home and stay safe, but that doesn’t mean we cannot get together, cook the eierbal at home and listen to this year’s amazing Eurosonic shows from all over Europe.
In fact, in 2021 Eurosonic is going to be broadcast directly on your device, and it’s going to be free for everyone from the 13th to the 16th of January.

So prepare the best drinks and audio systems in your house, and enjoy the amazing shows Italian artists are playing in just a few days! In the meantime, get to know Julia Bardo (who is as well our MMETA nominee for 2021!), Nava, Myss Keta, Bee Bee Sea and Gold Mass

Bee Bee Sea

WED 13 Jan | ESNS 04 | 20:10 – 20:25
Genre:
garage, rock’n’roll
Hailing from the small city of Castel Goffredo in Northern Italy, trio Bee Bee Sea have been cranking out spirited garage-psych for a few years now, touring extensively the US, Europe and the UK developing a fearsome live reputation. Their latest album “Day Ripper” came out on October 9th, 2020: ten incendiary tracks full of edge, tension, and fuelled by frustration – “ripper” is very much the right word. It’s a record that throws you around the room before pinning you up against the wall and screaming in your face: it’s impossible to listen to these tracks and not want to pogo manically around the room (you’ve been warned!)

GOLD MASS

WED 13 Jan | ESNS 03 | 20:30 – 20:45
Genre: electronic/dark

GOLD MASS is a physicist turned independent electronic artist. Debut album Transitions, produced by Paul Savage (Mogwai), delivers a dark minimal sound with confessional songwriting. She created a fascinating world around her figure, taking inspiration from her love for photography. Gender-based violence, communication and sexuality expressed from a female perspective by this Italian artist, currently working on her next release.

M¥SS KETA

WED 13 Jan | ESNS 03 | 22:30 – 22:45
Genre: avantgarde queer techno pop
M¥SS KETA is the angel who wears sunglasses, always veiled. Performer, rapper with a punk attitude, pop icon and definitive diva, M¥SS KETA is from Milan. She leads ‘the girls from Porta Venezia’ squad, seductive like Varla’s ones in ‘Faster, Pussycat! Kill, Kill!’, but less dangerous. Together they have conquered the biggest festivals and clubs in Italy through a concoction of techno, house, dubstep and rap that feels like it’s coming straight from the body of this true priestess of the night.

Nava

WED 13 Jan | ESNS 02 | 21:10 – 21:25
Genre:
electronic/experimental pop
Formed in cosmopolitan Milan and lead by the enigmatic Iranian singer Nava Golchini, NAVA take cues from Italy’s current flourishing electronic music scene and international acts like Arca, Apparat and Purity Ring. They are a unique cultural blender, melding Golchini’s own Persian background and the band’s incisive, experimental arrangements, into something truly visceral, both musically and visually. Their new EP Sarabe sees them explore the darker themes of human nature.

Julia Bardo

FRI 15 Jan | ESNS 01 | 21:05 – 21:15
Genre:
pop/indie-rock
Julia Bardo developed her talent in her father’s bar in Northern Italy, before deciding on a courageous move to Manchester, where she blossomed as a solo musician. Her striking talent was quickly picked up and her debut EP Phase came out in March via Wichita Recordings, co-produced by Henry Carlyle Wade of The Orielles. Bardo’s music illustrates her constantly changing world through diary-like observations, influenced by the Italian ‘60s music she grew up with and modern heroines like Cate Le Bon, Angel Olsen, Aldous Harding, Sharon Van Etten and Weyes Blood.
