From the 13th to the 16th of May, we’ll be in Brighton for The Great Escape Festival 2020 and for this year’s edition four Italian artists have been selected to play there, one of best showcases in the UK: Birthh, Qlowski, Lucifour M and Violetta Zironi.
Ready to make their mark on this year’s Great Escape are these four artists covering a diverse range of genres from emotive Americana folk to exuberant indie-pop, RnB, and post-punk. These acts should be on your radar for 2020.

Birthh
Birthh is songwriter, producer and daydreamer Alice Bisi, for whom it’s all about surprises. It’s also seeped into the music she makes, with her forthcoming second album WOAH full of unexpected key changes, shifting tempos and playful twists and turns.
Bisi demoed in a nine-month burst of creativity in her makeshift bedroom studio before finishing it with Solange collaborator Lucius Page and the Grammy-winning Robert ‘LB’ Dorsey. WOAH is an album that will pull the listener deep into its own world. “The songs are little planets,” she says, before keeping the space theme going by referring to the music she makes as ‘cosmic pop’.
Qlowski
London based twee punks Qlowski return after their first tape released in 2016 (in Bandcamp’s best of the year) and the head-spinning ‘Pure As Fear’ EP (2018) with a ton of touring under their belt in Europe. An uncommon post-punk sensibility, propulsive rhythms, a modern spin on kiwi-pop and a weird combination of dark punk, noise rock and flower pop are what makes them stand out. Lucifour M
Lucifour M is a four-piece band whose multifaceted and multidimensional music features many references to cinematic works. Thus, the four musicians point to parallels between the stylistic devices of director Bruno Dumont and their musical approach which they like to resume as follows: “It’s like standing on the verge of an abyss as if peering deeply into the eyes of the impossible.” Furthermore, the story behind the development of the band’s name has strong connections to the film “Lucifer Rising” by director Kenneth Anger.
Violetta Zironi
Listening to Violetta Zironi one can immediately tell her talent for melodies and their power of taking her listeners on a journey. She makes you feel like you’re watching a movie directed and musically composed by her. With her memorable voice, she’s been picking up attention from tastemakers such as Nylon, Schön! Magazine,
Clash & Rolling Stone amongst others, racked up more than 4 million streams, has been invited to join Jack Savoretti & Don McLean on their Tours, co-starred in a Netflix Movie and is going into her first EU and UK Headline Tour early 2020.
Her sound has been described as an Americana-folk-symbiosis between Norah Jones, Lana Del Rey and Katie Melua.
